Introductions.

Ever wanted to change the Golfing stereotype of Grandads flatcap, checkered jumpers, trousers tucked into your knee high white socks and #makegolfaccessible?

I fell into that trap at 14 years old when I started Golf. I went from the skatepark in my Bernies jeans to wearing a Golf costume I didn't want to wear in order to be accepted on the Golf course. I loved Golf but when I went to College and University I fell out of love with the game. Not to mention Quadrupling adult membership cost when I turned 18!

Almost 10 years later I moved from East Sussex to Plymouth, Devon and started Golf again; only this time I stopped giving a damn about what the seniors thought about my untucked shirt and fell in love with the sport all over again.

I just wanted to get to the same level I was as a junior, socialise and forget about life stresses at the weekend. Then I got addicted again and currently sit here at 29 as a 4 handicap aiming to get to scratch one day.

Outside of Golf I am a proud father. I have a degree in Sport Social Studies and a PE teacher who preaches inclusive sport and tackling social issues. Now I safeguard pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education. A challenging but thoroughly rewarding job.

I am a qualified mental health first aider and suicide prevention trained. Golf is not only my passion but a massive coping mechanism that makes me feel good during rough times. I couldn't recommend Golf highly enough for Mental Health.

When COVID came, Golf clubs were shut and that coping strategy was taken away from me. I needed to find a replacement. I exercised a lot, created a pretty terrible home golf simulator and even started playing Rory Mcilroy PGA tour out of sheer desperation. But it wasn't enough; so I created Golf Hipster

Golf Hipster is inspired by the senior who moaned about my "Hipster beard" and the original GOAT, Happy Gilmore's caddy, of whom he compared me to.

Happy Gilmore envisioned a new and slightly over the top way of making Golf more accessible back in 1996. I loved everything about it.

Golf Hipster isn't about throwing away the tradition and etiquette on the Golf course, it's about making Golf accessible. Embracing the positive parts of Golf culture and allowing the next generation of Golfers to feel comfortable on the golf course; not just accepted by the committees.
